.Broadfoot's Compiled Service Record Search __  can find your soldier's official military service documents if they are on file.  These records (pay vouchers, muster rolls, parole material, hospital admission slips, etc.) verify the unit in which your soldier served and often provide much personal information about your soldier.
Service Records may have one or many pages, and we have no way of knowing or estimating the bulk of content beforehand.
Many soldiers served in more than one unit.  You can order all the records for your soldier, or we'll send you only the Service Record you order and will notify you of any additional records.  However, by indicating "YES" with your order, that you would like the additional service records included, you will receive the additional records at a discounted price of $25.00 (Confederate & Union).

  • Single Confederate Service Record . . . . . . . $35.00*
  • Additional records for the same soldier . . . .. $25.00 .

A Service Record may contain many types of documents.  Service Records will typically have material such as pay vouchers, muster rolls, copies of orders, parole material (prisoner of war), hospital admission or discharge slips and other miscellaneous items.

A soldier's Service Record consists of a jacket or envelope, which gives his state, name, rank at entry into and exit from service, and the regiment and company in which he served.  Cross-references at the bottom of the jacket sometimes mention other units to which a soldier belonged.  Within the jacket are such things as extracts, though some men have original items pertaining only to themselves which turn up in the service record.  The most common sorts of the latter are requisitions signed by commissioned officers for forage or other supplies, pay vouchers, muster rolls, copies of special or general orders, parole material (prisoner of war), hospital admission and discharge slips, and various other miscellaneous items.

Info We Will Need to Order a Service Record

Your Soldier's NAME:  We will need to know the last name, first name, and if possible, the middle name or initial.  If you are not sure of your soldier's complete name, we suggest purchasing the SOLDIER SEARCH NAME LIST ($10.00 for the 1st page) which can expedite your search and greatly narrow the possibilities for finding the name your soldier used in his military service.

Your Soldier's STATE of SERVICE:  We will need to know the state in which your soldier served.  This is not necessarily the state in which he resided.  Sometimes soldiers living near their state's border joined units from the neighboring state.  If you are not sure of your soldier's state affiliation, we suggest purchasing our SOLDIER SEARCH NAME LIST ($10.00 for the 1st page) which lists soldiers of the same or similar name along with their state affiliations.

Your Soldier's UNIT:  We will need to know the unit in which your soldier served.  These are usually numbered regiments or battalions (such as 26th N.C. Infantry or 1st Indiana Cavalry) but may also be a named unit, such as the Washington Artillery.  Please note the "type" of unit:  Infantry, Artillery, Cavalry, Sharpshooters, Engineers, etc.  If you do not know the unit in which your soldier served, we suggest purchasing our SOLDIER SEARCH NAME LIST ($10.00 for the 1st page) which lists unit affiliations of the soldiers.

    Multiple Service Records
    ____________

DO YOU NEED CONFEDERATE or UNION SERVICE RECORDS?

ONE OR THOUSANDS - WE CAN HELP!
    .

    • Historians - Need multiple Service Records neatly organized and indexed?  We're your source.
    • Authors - You do the writing, we'll do the copying.  We can copy records faster and with better clarity than you can, and probably at less cost (what's your time worth?).
    • Genealogists - Why go to the Archives or another source?  Send your requests to us and we will have your records to you faster than other sources.
    ..
Our service and the quality of our records are superior to any other source available, including the National Archives.

QUALITY: We have the equipment to provide the best possible records.  Plus, our copies are enlarged and masked for better legibility and ease of use (no incomplete pages, no duplicate records).

FAST: Same day service for Confederate Records (up to 100 records).  If you need thousands of records we'll need a few days more. We provide Union records faster than any other source.

COMPLETE:  We provide the complete service record not just selected items, as is often the case with the Archives.  Plus, when you receive a record from the Archives, you have no way of knowing if it is the entire record, or just a portion.  Also, many soldiers served in more than one unit.  Unless otherwise requested we will provide all records available (the Archives sends only one record and does not advise you of additional records available).

WE ARE KNOWLEDGEABLE, EXPERIENCED, AND RESPONSIVE

Our experienced staff will help locate your soldier and will make every effort to provide you with the best records possible.  If you need help or have questions, the answer is immediately from us.
